Hello COAD Outreach Partners -

COAD's AFN & Older Adults Subcommittee continues this year's information campaign for emergency preparedness. As our partners, we encourage you to share this information with as many clients and partners as you can so that more people know about the resources available in our community before a disaster happens. The first steps in a response for vulnerable individuals, such as older adults and those with access and functional needs, is preparedness. Together we can build a more resilient Napa County!

This week's topic is: POWER OUTAGES

We provide OUTREACH QUESTIONS as conversation starters for this week's topic, and in the following section we provide the RESOURCES to answer those questions. Flyers, in both pdf and jpeg formats, and links are provided for easy sharing. You may use the jpeg images for online sharing, and the pdf versions for sharing hard copies and via email.

If you are sharing these flyers on Facebook, please copy and paste this blurb as the caption and tag us (@Napa Valley COAD):

English: "Napa Valley COAD continues this spring's information campaign! Our second topic of preparedness is POWER OUTAGES. Power outages may be an inconvenience for most, but for our most vulnerable population it can be life threatening. People who are dependent on power for their medical needs must have backup plans in place for power outages. Take a look at these resources and please share them so more people can be informed. Thank you!"

¡Gracias!"

  • RESOURCES

    NAPA VALLEY COAD RESOURCES

Napa Valley COAD has many resources for the community to look through in both English and Spanish. The Preparedness Calendar is a great source for emergency preparedness throughout the year. It can be overwhelming to create a plan and gather supplies in one go, so we suggest people take it one step at a time and prepare throughout the year to make things less costly and stressful.

    PG&E RESOURCES

We've learned how important it is to be ready for any weather-related or other unplanned outages over the past few years. People who are dependent on power for their needs, must have backup plans in place for power outages. PG&E offers programs for qualifying vulnerable community members such as the Medical Baseline Program, which lowers the lower rate on energy bills and adds additional notification when there will be a PSPS event. This program also helps individuals qualify for other programs such as the Disability Disaster Access and Resources (DDAR) program. More information can be found below.

    Disability Services & Legal Center

The Disability Services & Legal Center offers a wide array of Services & Advocacy Programs for the betterment of independence in the community, including help with applying to the Disability Disaster Access and Resources (DDAR) program. Learn more about all of their services and programs.
