SCHOOL POST OF THE WEEK: ENKA HIGH SCHOOL
 
🪖 Congratulations to Enka High Seniors Shannon Gobble and Ryan Luther on graduating 9 weeks of Army Boot Camp this summer. Their graduation was Aug. 29. They will rejoin their classmates next week. Coach Chris Gant drove 11 hours out to Fort Leonardwood, Missouri for the celebration. Help us congratulate these two fine students/soldiers on such an amazing achievement over the summer between their Junior and Senior year. They have set a high standard and are an inspiration for all.

➕ North Buncombe High School math teacher Jaime Stowe had special visitors pop into her first block class to announce she is the Buncombe County Schools Math Teacher of the Year. Administrators recognized her sense of community and collaborative mindset.

🚌 BCS Transportation was recently recognized as a team recipient of School Transportation News’ 10th Annual Garage Stars award. The award recognizes fleet professionals or entire teams that demonstrate innovation, leadership, and commitment within their bus garages.

🎒 Sydney Ross, founder of the organization Change the Type, visited Hominy Valley Elementary to share school supplies while reinforcing the message that young people can make a difference.

💟 Their hearts stayed shining brightly, even on some of the darkest days. Now, the teachers and staff of Emma Elementary School are in the spotlight, featured on WLOS-TV as “WNC Heroes.”

✈️ Enka High senior Isabella Geier is one of just a dozen students selected to serve on a statewide superintendent's advisory board. She'll use her voice to help students all across the state.
