Our schools have been filled with energy, excitement and plenty of smiling faces as students and staff kicked off the new school year. We’re grateful for the wonderful start and all the hard work that helped make this first week a success.

🌱🌶️ FROM THE GARDEN TO THE CAFETERIA
Students at Community High School are growing more than plants in Mr. Foote’s horticulture program. They’re gaining hands-on experience and seeing the fruits (and jalapeños!) of their hard work make their way into school meals. 🌱➡️🍽️
Fresh, student-grown jalapeños just in time for Nacho Day? We’ll take it! 🙌🌶️
We love seeing learning come full circle in Buncombe County Schools — from the garden to the cafeteria and onto students’ plates. 💚

👏 For retiring BCS Superintendent Dr. Rob Jackson, Bell Elementary students and staff lined the halls for a “clap out,” a tradition for 5th graders when they leave for middle school and for staff members when they retire. Dr. Jackson started his career at Bell 34 years ago.

🎶 The T.C. Roberson High School, A.C. Reynolds High School, Cane Creek Middle School, and Charles T. Koontz Intermediate bands are hitting all the right notes after earning statewide recognition for their dedication to musical excellence.

🤼 During halftime of Enka High’s football game on August 21, members of the wrestling team were recognized on the field and presented with their 2026 State Championship rings.
