POST OF THE WEEK: πŸ—£πŸŽΆ BCS Students Shine at High School All-County Chorus Concert
 
Students from six Buncombe County Schools high schools came together Nov. 18 for the annual All-County Chorus concert, held at the Wortham Center for the Performing Arts.
 
Vocalists from Enka, Erwin, T.C. Roberson, A.C. Reynolds, Owen and North Buncombe high schools earned their spots after auditioning at the school level. Selected students then spent the day rehearsing under the direction of guest conductor Dr. Stephen Gusukuma of Furman University.

Students in Mrs. Moody's 7th grade class used critical thinking, mathematical logistics and creative problem solving skills to reverse engineer a "magic" card trick during class. Challenging projects and activities like this allow students to "level-up" their thinking on a daily basis. #WeAreEnka✈️

🌈 North Buncombe Elementary students took part in a run that makes getting dirty part of the fun. Students in the school’s running club participated in its first-ever Color Run. Members, dressed mostly in white, made six laps around the ball field, running through clouds of colorful powder at every turn.

 πŸͺ Two Black Mountain Primary School classes placed in the top 10 during this year’s National Gingerbread Competition. Ashley Styles’ kindergarteners took third place in the Child category for their entry, “A Christmas Wagon,” while Katie Hogan’s second graders placed in the top 10 for their “Butterfly Garden” display.

 πŸŽ― Bags flew and cheers filled the A.C. Reynolds High School gym as students from four BCS high schools and North Henderson High enjoyed this year’s Adaptive Sports League Cornhole Tournament.

πŸ§— Students from Owen Middle and High School traded their classrooms for climbing harnesses as they spent the day conquering the towering indoor rock-climbing course at Fiddlehead Farm.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ West Buncombe Elementary School hosted a heartfelt Grandparents and Veterans Day celebration on November 6th, bringing together students, families, and community members.

πŸ“–  T.C. Roberson High School opened its brand-new Imagination Station, an underwater-themed learning and play space designed for the preschoolers in the school’s on-site preschool.

πŸ‹οΈ Hominy Valley Elementary recently opened its gym doors to families as part of its annual Parents in P.E. Week, an event aimed at getting students and their loved ones moving together.
