John Schwuchow
Superintendent
School Town of Highland

John Schwuchow stepped into the superintendent role for School Town of Highland in July 2026.He began his educational career in Highland, teaching sixth grade at Southridge Elementary School from 2000 to 2008.

Since stepping into the superintendency, Schwuchow has prioritized maintaining an open-door policy, he dedicates his time to connecting directly with teachers, students, families, and community members. His immediate goal is to listen, learn, and gain a thorough understanding of every single corner of the district and the surrounding neighborhood.

He finds his greatest reward in working hand-in-hand with local families and staff to create a supportive, united educational environment. By listening closely to the community and honoring Highland's strong existing foundation, he aims to ensure the district accomplishes great things together in the years ahead.

When he steps away from the superintendent's office, John is an avid runner. He has successfully completed three marathons. John also enjoys winding down with a good book and enjoys spending time with his family-his wife, Holly and their two children.
