Dr. Reid Amones
Superintendent
East Porter County
School Corporation
|
|
|
Since its establishment in the early 1990s, the East Porter County School Corporation (EPCSC) has possessed a unique organizational narrative. Formed by the merger of three distinct, trustee-led school districts—Washington Township, Morgan Township, and Kouts—the corporation brings three individual K-12 campuses together under a single umbrella. While each campus maintains its own unique identity, community roots, and individual strengths, they are bound by a shared, singular mission: Challenging All Students to Grow and Excel. At the helm of this vibrant educational community is Superintendent Reid Amones, who is dedicated to honoring that legacy while driving the district toward a bright future.
Since taking on the role, Amones has focused his energy on listening, building relationships, and fostering open lines of communication across all three school communities. Recognizing the importance of connection, he has made it a priority to meet directly with students, parents, staff, and community members so they know who he is and how to reach him. His outreach extends far beyond the school walls, actively engaging with local business partners, elected officials, religious leaders, and parent support organizations. For Amones, the most rewarding aspect of his work comes from daily interactions with teachers, administrators, and students, witnessing firsthand a collective community spirit driven by a shared commitment to doing what is right for students.
Looking ahead, Amones is determined to ensure that the district's size is never a hurdle to offering rich educational opportunities. His vision for EPCSC centers on continuously refining operational practices and procedures, streamlining efficiency so that the corporation can deliver the best possible experiences for every child across the district.
Outside of his professional duties, Amones regularly travels to cheer on his son playing baseball at Marian University, attends Indiana University football and basketball games, roots for the Chicago Cubs, and fits in time for golf and fishing whenever possible. Recently, he has also enjoyed taking time to travel, highlighting a memorable trip to Hawaii with his wife, brother, and sister-in-law where they explored three different islands.
