POST OF THE WEEK: W.D. Fifth Graders Reach New Heights
Fifth graders from W.D. Williams Elementary recently took learning beyond the classroom during an exciting field trip to the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly.
Students spent the day challenging themselves through a variety of outdoor activities designed to build confidence, communication, and teamwork. From working together during teambuilding challenges to testing their skills on the climbing wall and ropes course, students encouraged one another every step of the way.

Our cafeteria staff, led by our fabulous cafeteria manager, Lisa Ballew, works so hard to serve our students with excellent meals and lots of love! Participation is key to keeping our breakfast, lunch and healthy snack free to all BCS students! Please encourage your child to get a meal and try new things!

Enka High School Math Teacher Tony Dezio and Candler Elementary School Art Teacher Heidi Shields participated in Global NC, a program that provides educators from across North Carolina with opportunities to travel internationally and immerse themselves in another country’s culture and education system.

Tennis players at T.C. Roberson High School took to the turf during last Friday night’s football game. The school held a special championship ring ceremony, commemorating the Rams winning the 6A Men’s Dual Tennis Team State Championship. Congratulations!

Dr. Jennifer Reed has been sworn in as the interim superintendent of Buncombe County Schools.
Surrounded by her family, BCS teammates, and members of the Board of Education, Dr. Reed took the Superintendent’s oath. Several principals, assistant principals, and other teammates attended virtually from their schools to be part of the special ceremony.
