POST OF THE WEEK: 👗❤️ There’s No Place Like Prom: PEP Celebrates Night of Friendship and Connection
 
A magical night for the Buncombe County Schools Progressive Education Program (PEP) began with a journey down the yellow brick road.
 
With a theme of “The Wizard of Oz,” the PEP prom, held at the east campus of Biltmore Church April 24, started with cheers for students as they entered the door, escorted down a yellow carpet by their peer tutors from T.C. Roberson High School.

BCS Spring Musicals Shine
 
Theater, chorus, and band students came together for much-anticipated spring musical season. Check out out Facebook and Instagram feeds for the shows that have already concluded. Still to come are “Footloose” at Enka High School (7pm April 30-May 2) and “The Wizard of Oz” at Owen High School (7pm April 30-May 2, 2pm May 2)

🖼️ The BCS K-8 Art Exhibition is underway, just inside the north entrance. April 21 was Family Night, with a chance to meet many of the artists and teachers, and an opportunity for students to share their creations with their relatives.

💡 Members of the BCS Student Advisory Council met for their final time this year. The group reflected on the work accomplished, and offered advice for topics next year’s students may want to examine.

 🧬 Owen High School students recently stepped into the world of modern science, using real biotechnology tools to analyze DNA and explore the ethical questions that come with it.

🌎 Students in the Dual Language classes at W.D. Williams Elementary celebrated United Nations Spanish Language Day by dressing up and stepping out on stage.
