T.C. Roberson baseball players swapped dirt for turf to receive a sparkling reminder of a remarkable achievement.

During halftime of the Oct. 31 Roberson-Reynolds football game, head baseball coach Eric Filipek invited players on the field to join Principal Nathan Allison and BCS Superintendent Dr. Rob Jackson for the presentation of state championship rings. The team made history last May by earning its third consecutive 4A state baseball title. That means some players received their third championship ring.

SCHOOL POST OF THE WEEK: Cane Creek Middle School

Mrs. Gosnell’s 8th grade Ag Science classes had a wonderful opportunity to visit the west side of the Biltmore Estate on Wednesday.  They began the tour with some history of the Vanderbilts and their farmlands. They moved on to learn about hydroponics while walking through the greenhouses and seeing many plants from seedlings to ready to eat vegetables. Next, they visited the cattle barn and saw many Black Angus calves, heifers, cows, and bulls. Then, they moved on to the pig farm and visited with the Berkshire hogs and were allowed to feed and pet the pigs. The visit ended with a picnic in the Farm to Table tour barn. Much history was learned, many firsts were experienced, and interests were pricked while on this amazing field trip.
