POST OF THE WEEK: πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸƒπŸƒ‍♀️ OWEN HIGH MARKS FIFTH YEAR OF ‘STAMPEDE ON THE STAIRS’ WITH POWERFUL TRIBUTE TO 9/11 HEROES

Before the sun rose over Charles D. Owen High School, the stands at Warhorse Stadium filled with energy, reflection, and purpose. The fifth annual “Stampede on the Stairs” event drew students, staff, first responders, athletes, and community members together in a moving tribute to the fallen heroes of September 11, 2001.

πŸ—³οΈ “What is your platform?” “Where do you do your work?” “Do you have any pets?” No questions were off limits, as curious Johnston Elementary third graders interviewed Buncombe County Board of Education member Kim Plemmons.

πŸͺ± “Inch by inch, row by row, gonna make this garden grow.” Heather Gast’s kindergarten class at Weaverville Primary School planted a garden where they'll grow kale, lettuce, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts. They're also taking care of worms that will enrich the soil.

πŸ–– In Preston Prince’s music class at Sand Hill-Venable Elementary, kid cadets have a five-year mission: to explore strange new rhythms, to seek out creative inspiration, and to boldly make music where no class has gone before.
Black Mountain and BCS leaders unveil a new mural.
🐴 Black Mountain officials visited Black Mountain Elementary to unveil a new mural at the school entrance. As we’ve shared, art teacher Jolie Atkins designed the mural to help develop a sense of belonging at the school.

🏈 Students at Haw Creek Elementary met some special greeters in the car rider line. A.C. Reynolds High School football players Zion Ikeme and Jeremiah Jeter  welcomed students and invited families to watch Friday's game.
