POST OF THE WEEK: 🚧👷‍♂️🏗️ Construction Career Day Connects Students to Future Careers

Hundreds of high school students from across Western North Carolina got a firsthand look at careers in the skilled trades during the WNC Construction Career Day.

A total of 864 students from 16 counties participated in the event, including students from nearly every Buncombe County high school. The day brought together more than 80 businesses and industry partners, along with 43 volunteers, to create an immersive, hands-on experience focused on construction careers. Students rotated through multiple activity zones, where they explored equipment, watched live demonstrations, and spoke directly with professionals, from apprentices to project managers and executive leaders.

National Principals' Day

Friday, May 1, was National Principals' Day. Buncombe County Schools thanks our principals for their leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to our students, staff, and families.

Our principals set the tone for their schools each day, fostering strong learning environments, supporting teachers, and building meaningful connections with students and the community. Their work often happens behind the scenes, but its impact is felt in every classroom and across every campus.

We are grateful for the care, vision, and resilience our principals bring to their roles. Thank you for all you do to lead, inspire, and make a difference in Buncombe County Schools.
