POST OF THE WEEK: 🚍❤️ Remarkable Journey: North Buncombe High Celebrates Bus Driver Donald Roberts’ 37 Years of Service
In just a few days, North Buncombe High School bus driver Donald Roberts will turn in his key for the last time - but what a ride he’s had. After serving generations of the students, he is retiring from a position he’s held at the school for 37 years.
“These kids, these teachers, they’re my family,” Mr. Roberts said. “I’ve enjoyed being around them every day.”

Our sixth grade science students have been reaching for the stars during their space unit and this week they took a field trip to Mars without ever leaving the building. In the library a giant Mars map transformed the space into a hands on exploration where students investigated rover and landing sites, studied elevation maps, and practiced using latitude and longitude. Through this interactive experience students deepened their understanding of distant space and scale while learning through curiosity, collaboration, and exploration making it an out of this world week in sixth grade science. 🚀🌌
